SIKA BONSU
Sika Bonsu is a Ghanaian photographer whose work explores the range of Black life and identity. Bonsu focuses on the natural order of things around her to emphasize an anti-elitist, anti-colorist celebration of everyday Blackness. The work exhibited, NSUO, is a visual exploration of the experience of African immigrants in America across various timelines. The title is the Ghanaian word for water, a place to find quiet in the storm, and respite from the realities of being a Black person on this planet.
SHAWN LINDSAY
Shawn Lindsay draws inspiration first from his daily life, cartoons, and hip-hop culture, as well as painters such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Mark Rothko, Alice Neil, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. The work exhibited, Love in Greyscale, is a reflection on women finding their voices and taking agency over their images on social media.
