Live at Eaton 2026
Presented by Eaton HK, Live at Eaton is a new contemporary performance festival aiming to expand the boundaries of performance aesthetics and contexts in Hong Kong. The festival addresses gaps in the local performing arts and live art scene by constructing interdisciplinary perspectives on performance-making beyond mainstream theatre, dance, music, and performance art. By examining performance as knowledge production and community building, Live at Eaton seeks to develop contemporary ways of making and experiencing performance—merging methodologies such as choreography, materiality, research, lived experience, the body, and identity.
The concept of Live at Eaton was initiated by its co-directors: Tang Fukuen, a Singapore-born dramaturg, curator, and Joseph Chen, Director of Culture at Eaton HK. It brings together diverse perspectives on the idea of “live” in both art and life, exploring the liveness of contemporary performance, the performativity of everyday life, lived experience as a context for artmaking, and art and life as an interconnected co-learning and co-working process.
The inaugural edition of Live at Eaton takes on the theme ‘workshop as performance’, blending interactive education with live art. By exploring storytelling, media, movement, and objects, workshop performance turns practice-based learning into a creative, critical, and communal performative experience.
