UNHEARD: "Soul Aquarians" - the birth of Y2K Neosoul Talk

The two behind Nathan Station, Kim and Roz, will share the unheard stories behind the birth of the Neo Soul movement in U.S. dating back to the late 90s to Y2K era , digging into four major albums produced by a collective of musicians including D'Angelo, J Dilla, James Poyser, Quest Love, Erykah Badu, Common to name a few. The talk will explore how the collective created a new musical genre by mixing the key elements from Black native Soul music as well as sampled and chopped funk breaks during the years when analog and digital recordings began to merge together enhancing musical creativity. This short period of time tells the story of how an independent musician collective made a break through into the mainstream and became influential world wide.
