Dislocated Ground: practices for an out of sync ecology

Once under our feet, wetland ecologies connected Hong Kong and Shenzhen, forming a shared bioregion. As the two cities urbanised along shifted timelines, the ground beneath them became artificial, while the unnatural speed of urban life further desynchronises us from the ground our socioecological histories emerged from.

Curated by a Paris-based team, this soirée, Dislocated Ground: practices for an out of sync ecology, brings together four international practitioners working across art, design, and architecture, each offering their own method of reconnecting with the ground. It is an invitation to spend an evening slowing down, in a collective exploration of ideas such as embodied intimacy, performative sculpture, new materialism, utopia, and engineered ecologies.

The event is part of the pre-exhibition programme for jet lag garden, opening September 23 on the rooftop garden atop CTI PARK in Shenzhen.

The soirée is co-curated by mil.lieux and HAAU architecture studio, supported by Eaton Hong Kong.

The event will be in English, with the possibility to receive questions in Cantonese.
