In celebration of Earth Month this April—a time when sustainability takes the spotlight—we’re thrilled to share a curated list of six sustainable businesses in Hong Kong, handpicked by Eaton HK’s Sustainability Manager, Gloria Tsang.
Sustainability is at the heart of Eaton HK's mission as a hospitality brand, making this compilation a meaningful reflection of our values. From plant-based restaurants and cozy cafés to record shops across the city, this list offers a glimpse into Hong Kong’s vibrant sustainable scene—through the lens of Gloria, a certified food enthusiast with a passion for conscious living.
Wanaka
8 King Sing Street, Blue House, Wan Chai
Created by the team behind Years, a beloved local vegetarian brand, Wanaka is nestled in the historic Blue House in Wan Chai. With its community-centric ethos and open-air dining, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a nourishing vegetarian meal while soaking in the neighborhood’s heritage charm.
Room 1102, 11/F, Hung Tat Industrial Building, 43 Hung To Road Kwun Tong.
Sow Vegan is my go-to for inventive, plant-based cuisine. Founder Pamela and her team use locally grown organic vegetables and cutting-edge techniques to craft vibrant, seasonal menus. From house-baked breads and small plates to hearty mains and desserts, every dish celebrates the artistry of vegan cooking.
L/G, Amber Lodge, 23 Hollywood Rd, Central
Hong Kong’s first closed-loop sustainable bar, PENICILLIN is run by a passionate team dedicated to environmental impact. Their signature cocktail, One Penicillin, One Tree, was developed in collaboration with EcoSpirits and Green Steps—each drink enjoyed helps plant a tree in the Kalimantan rainforest. Cheers to meaningful sipping with a purpose!
JupYeah is a pop-up platform promoting conscious consumption through community exchange. Each event takes place in a different location across the city—the last one was held on Peng Chau from March 29 to 30. Stay tuned for the next one! Don’t miss this chance to swap, share, and explore.
G/F, 215 Tai Nan Street, Sham Shui Po, Kowloon
To me, preserving culture and appreciating more durable, analog formats of media in this digital era is an essential part of sustainability. I love wandering around Sham Shui Po—photographing old buildings, café-hopping, and stepping into local gems like White Noise Records. Vinyl records carry stories of the past, offering a tangible connection to music, history, and heritage.
26 Upper Lascar Row, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong
Halfway Coffee is hands down my favorite coffee spot. Founder Tommy designed the space to foster community, using vintage porcelain cups and locally sourced school furniture to create a nostalgic, welcoming vibe. It’s more than a café—it’s a space filled with stories, memories, and connection. By repurposing old furniture, the café not only adds a touch of character and history to its ambiance but also reduces waste and gives these pieces a second life.
Let this list guide you through some of Hong Kong’s most inspiring sustainable gems—each one making a difference, one thoughtful choice at a time.
