Eaton DC's Sustainable Renovation Project

A better world is possible, but the path there may not be easy. We are proud to share details of our successful Eaton DC Queen to King Room conversion and renovation project by which we sustainably renovated 131 hotel rooms over a three-year period.

Beginning in May 2020 the Queen to King project centered on reducing waste, employing sustainable design, donating gently used furniture, fixtures and equipment to mutual aid groups, and providing opportunities to local communities, all while allowing Eaton to stay committed to its purpose-driven mission and remaining competitive in the hotel and travel space.

Meticulously planned and executed to minimize waste, we collaborated with the enthusiastic IK Studios (IKS) and SCRAP NYC, both of whom helped us formulate a plan that included recycling linens and significantly reducing the waste and environmental impact often associated with large scale hotel renovations.

Eaton’s enthusiastic and talented uniform attendant Marta successfully converted our queen bed throw to king sized. Marta provided two samples which used only material taken from existing throws. You’ll find her meticulously sewed blankets at the foot over every king bed. Eaton strives to set an example to all businesses, that the planet (and people) can be considered and respected without compromising financial success.
