Kong Temporary Archive presents: Modernology Workshop - Documenting Yau Ma Tei's Eateries

Observing urban transformation through the evolution of neighborhood eateries: What have we gained, and what have we lost? Most importantly—what is it that we truly want?

This event is a unique blend of community modernology X on-site creative zine-making. Participants will first step into the shoes of investigators, exploring the streets guided by historical maps and dining directories of Yau Ma Tei. During this field exploration, you will investigate the local restaurants—are they still operating, have they closed down, or have they been replaced by new shops or restaurants?

Next, you will conduct deeper fieldwork at a corner or shop of your choice to complete your own “Eatery Modernology Journal”. Finally, you will be back to Eaton House and start creating your own zine documenting your discoveries on the spot.

*Please note that food and drinks are not included in this event. However, you are more than welcome to purchase any food or drinks along the way!

@kongtemp_archive is a Hong Kong community-based publication library. They believe the collection of Hong Kong folk and independent publishing can fill in the important living culture missing in the grand scheme of local history; it is a treasure of human culture for the people now and those in the future. They also serve as a platform to explore different forms of local stories.
