Wu-Tang x Eaton Workshop: THE RISE ABOVE RESIDENCY
Eaton DC

The Rise Above Residency is a week of events at Eaton DC exploring the cultural and intellectual legacy of the Wu-Tang Clan. Oliver “Power” Grant, Wu-Tang’s executive producer and founder of Wu Wear, is our visionary for this residence and will guide guests through the past, present, and future of Wu. Artists, activists, healers, farmers, and authors across the DC region--who have been inspired over the years by Wu-Tang’s message--all convene at Eaton to engage with Wu-Tang’s legacy and commune with the creative minds that made it into an enduring cultural force.

See our web calendar for the full line-up of live music, panels, kung fu movie screenings, yoga, and kickbacks. All events are free and open to the public.

All Week

The Dojo

The Dojo is an elevated retail concept in Eaton DC’s lobby highlighting ephemera and merchandise from the Wu-Tang Clan, styled by multidisciplinary artist Baker’s Son. Guests can browse limited-edition Wu Wear and Park Hill garments and accessories, within an immersive sensory experience paying homage to the ubiquitous New York bodega.

Killa Bees Kickbacks

After each day of events, Eaton’s speakeasy cocktail bar Allegory will be hosting a series of Killa Bees Kickbacks in the library and cinema areas on the first floor of the hotel. Allegory’s mixologists have crafted a special Wu-Tang Killa Bees menu of cocktails and spirit-free botanical beverages that feature honey produced by Mother’s Finest Urban Farm. Learn more about their mission to restore people and the planet at Saturday’s panel and screening: “Killa Bees on the Swarm: Bees, Race, and Environment.”

Wu-Tang Gallery

On view at Eaton: an exhibition of rare and archival photographs of the Wu-Tang Clan over the years. Located in the Radical Library.

Calendar of Events

Wednesday, September 22

“Wu-Tang: An American Saga” S2E5 premiere

7pm-8pm @ Eaton Cinema & Crystal Room

RSVP

“Can I Kick It?” Shaolin Jazz session screening Kill Bill Vol 1

8pm-10pm @ Eaton Cinema & Crystal Room

RSVP

Thursday, Sept 23

36 Cinema presents: Shaolin vs Wu-Tang

6pm-8pm @ Eaton Cinema & Crystal Room

RSVP

36 Cinema presents: 36th Chamber of Shaolin

8pm-10pm @ Eaton Cinema & Crystal Room

RSVP

Killa Bees Kickback

ft.
