Guided Meditation Series Celebrating Women's History Month

A series of weekly guided meditations inspired by quotes from some of our favorite feminist/womanist thinkers.

Join Esther Boykin this Women's History Month for a series of weekly guided meditations inspired by quotes from some of our favorite feminist/womanist thinkers.  At each session, we will briefly discuss the quote and theme before entering into guided meditation, followed by a little time to process anything that comes up.  Whether this is your first time or you’ve been meditating for years, this workshop is a perfect way to celebrate womanhood and explore your connection to it in a communal space.

Alexis Pauline Gumbs - "I am still learning to trust that something can hold me. My default mode is burdened strength."

Theme: Finding our comfort and care in the world.

Alice Walker - “Look closely at the present you are constructing. It should look like the future you are dreaming.”

Theme: Making space to dream of our future even when the world feels heavy and committed to limiting our vision of what we can do.

Nina Simone- “You have to learn to get up from the table when love is not being served.”

What does it feel like to truly be loved? To be held in a non-possessive way that allows room for you to bloom

Audre Lorde - "The true focus of revolutionary change is never merely the oppressive situations which we seek to escape, but that piece of the oppressor which is planted deep within each of us...”

Theme: Unearthing the places within us that hold the oppression around us… and learning to let them go.

Toni Morrison - “Freeing yourself was one thing, claiming ownership of that freed self was another.”

Theme: How do we take ownership of our full selves and honor our whole story?
